Troubleshoot JigsawDesigner

Work from the smallest reproducible project and keep the editable source package. The checks below separate geometry problems, selection state, subscription access, and cloud availability.

What you can do

  • Selection and locked layers
  • SVG import diagnostics
  • Boundary and template validation
  • Local save and optional cloud sync

An element cannot be selected or edited

Switch to Select, inspect the Layers hierarchy, and check whether the element or an ancestor is locked or hidden. Drill into a group when you need a nested child rather than the top-level group.

  • Confirm the active tool
  • Reveal and unlock the relevant layer
  • Deselect and select again
  • Use Point Edit only after selecting compatible geometry

Jigsaw generation fails

Confirm the outer boundary is a valid closed path and the chosen slot template is a valid open path. Try a simpler contour or lower target density, then inspect any error shown by the generation operation.

Import or export does not behave as expected

For import, use a local SVG with embedded resources and inspect unsupported or blocked content. For export, confirm Premium access; current export is SVG only. Keep the source .jigsawproject before simplifying a complex document.

A project or cloud update is missing

First confirm the local project package exists in My Projects. Cloud synchronization additionally requires iCloud availability and a project configured for cloud storage. Public publishing and share acceptance are separate CloudKit operations.
